The stories you’re telling yourself are creating walls you can’t see over thus keeping you frozen in the dark. The key to this is having the BELIEF in your ABILITY to CREATE.

After my fathers death in February I was put in charge of his estate and last week I found myself back in Alaska sifting through 40 years of dad’s sh*t, I mean his “stuff” – a MONSTER undertaking and powerful experience I’d rather never repeat! But…this cat hair filled week of sifting and purging […]

Everyone seemed to be using a check-box goal system comprised of visualization + action to drive their lives towards success. But then I started to think.

What if this process is wrong? What if this process completely masks the key to happiness?

Your CA$H cushion removes or at least vastly reduces the emotional charge to the ebb and flow of cash in our accounts. It allows us to stay focused without freaking out when money comes in our out and it crushes the addiction to spending and earning waves.

Most people actually think rotting in jail for a couple moves is better and safer than paying the $50 fee to break out and get back in the game. The problem with playing it safe is you squander time and the gift of growth from the mistakes you’ll make.

By the end of the week the whole Lifebook gang had food fatigue. I can still hear the rumblings of “oh no, do we have to eat again…nooooo more food… can we look for a juice bar… chocolate? NOOOO more chocolate…beer is evil…” Hysterical now, but

What many think of as networking is meeting people, collecting their contact details and then putting their email, phone and address into their contact manager to either market to them or worse yet, spam them with the newest high tech system of automated email selling. Only adding them to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIN is not the answer.

What’s the key then? Where’s the power? Three words:

Engagement, contribution and care.

Something I learned during the meltdown of 2008 was how few people had rules for their financial lives. They didn’t seem to have any rules for their investments, their businesses, their spending, saving or for that matter anything in writing when it came to their rules about money.

Decisions were made with their GUT and intuition. Making financial decisions from the GUT is a bad idea, GUT stands for: Gave Up Thinking. Here are my rules:

Have you ever noticed there seem to be certain people who make lots of money but always seem to be stressed about cash? There are others who have cash from an inheritance or a lucky break one time but can’t seem to create anything. The reason these people struggle is because the skills for making and the skills for keeping money are radically different.

It’s not just the check I’m writing today to get that sweet baby into my truck and on my wall, but the price I’ll pay for the next year, decade and for the rest of my life by having this shiny, stimulating, mesmerizing piece of technology in my home.

I realize how critical it is for me to be conscious of how much space I allow for the vampires to take in my life, less I become a vampire by osmosis. Sadly, I realize how many conversations I’ve had in recent years out of obligation, many times with family, others with friends, that are either depressing, debilitating or draining….
